As famous as there is in the world of
cigars. Herman Upmann, originally a banker, became so
fond of cigars he moved to Cuba in 1844. There he set
up as a cigar maker. The success of this brand was buoyed
by the award of seven gold medals in international exhibitions
between 1862 and 1893. This cigar company was later taken
over by Frankau & Co in 1922, and again in the mid
1930s when purchased by the company of Menendez &
Garcia. Each box still carries the signature of Herman
Upman. Available in a stunning range of hand madeand machine
made sizes, the brand offers a mild to medium strength.
